Make the Expansion of the Hunter Coal Industry an Election Issue
Visit or write to your State member of parliament and tell them that the expansion of the Hunter Valley coal industry threatens all of us with runaway climate change and therefore must be stopped. Demand that s/he:
- Contact the Premier and Planning Minister Frank Sartor and tell them to reject Centennial Coal's application to mine Anvil Hill;
- Contact the Premier and Planning Minister Frank Sartor to urge them that the new coal loader at Newcastle not go ahead (more information);
- Contact the Premier to urge him to introduce a legislated state-based renewable energy target to kick-start a clean energy future for NSW (more information).
Find out which electorate you're in. Then find out who your state member is and how you can contact them.
Update: On the 7th of June the NSW Planning Minister Frank Sartor approved the proposed mine, now more than ever we need your help to save Anvil Hill and prevent climate chaos. If you like you can use this letter writing guide/email form. You can also see Greenpeace's community action handbook (or as a PDF) for tips on lobbying politicians.
If you're in a Liberal seat urge your MP to cc the Opposition leader Barry O'Farrell as well.
