The Anvil Hill Alliance was launched on Tuesday 7th March at State Parliament House Sydney. On the same morning Federal ALP Leader Kim Beazley gave a speech in Sydney on climate, outlining some of Labor's policies ahead of the next election. On the whole, it was nothing new. But more importantly, it did not even address the massive expansion of the Hunter Valley coal industry which will render Federal Labor's policies irrelevant. If Beazley wants to be taken seriously on climate change he needs to stop his State Labor colleagues fueling it in the Hunter Valley. Luckily, Christine Phelps from Anvil Hill Project Watch was able to collar Mr Beazley as he left the speech and gave him an Anvil Hill T-shirt and some literature about why the mine must not go ahead. It won't be the last time he hears about it. Media releases: Anvil Hill Alliance to tackle Hunter Valley coal, Failure to Quit Coal undermines Beazley's climate election gambit.
